Application filed February 23, 1892. Serial No. 422,588- Term of patent 3% yearsl To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES D. BERGEN, of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for a Bowl; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with accompanying drawing, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a side view.,
This invention relates to a design fora bowl; and it consists in the ornamentation as shown in the accompanying illustration.
In the illustration the design is shown as applied to a salad-bowl, which will be suflicient for the understanding of the invention to enable others to apply it to various articles of glassware.
The general surface outline is represented as convex. The upper line of the ornamentation represents a series of scallops with tongues between. The surface ornamentation represents a series of ornaments of leaf or elliptical shape starting from near the bottom and terminating in the tongues before mentioned between the scallops. The surface of these tongue ornaments is represented with grooves parallel with the outline of the ornament, producing raised ribs as a border forming a panel, in which is represented a geometrical rose ornament. The scallops between the said tongue ornaments represent a series of vertical parallel ribs starting,' from the edge of the said tongue ornaments and running to the edge of the scallops, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
It will be understood that the term bowl as hereinafter used is intended to include articles of glassware having the same ornamentation.
I claim- The herein-described design for a bowl, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
