DESIGN FOR THE ORNAMENTATION OF TABLE-WARE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,115, dated October 13, 1891.
Application filed November 26. 1890- Serial 110.372,?48. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ARTHUR J. STONE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Gardner, in the county of \Vorcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Ornamentation of 'lable-Ware, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a coffee-urn, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a sugar-bowl, showing my design.
My design is for the ornamentation of tableware; and it consists in the somewhat fiattened bottom forming swell and an upper swell connected by an intermediate contracted portion of the body, the upper swell having at its upper part a mount composed of conventionalized shells and leaves, the surface of the receptacle being formed with curved fiutings running from the lower swell toward the mount, some of the flutings having bosses at their lower ends upon the surface of the lower swell and others being there extended into curved feather-work and flower-work, as more specifically described below.
A is the lower swell, A the contracted portion, and A the upper swell, at the upper end of which is a mount A composed of conventionalized shells a and feathers a Below the mount the receptacle has curved llutings 1, some of these flutings terminating in bosses 2 upon the surface of swell Aand others terminating in curved eonventionalized featherwork 3 and flower-work 4. The feather-work and flower-work are grouped together and flanked by the bosses 2, the flower and featherwork extending somewhat nearer the bottom of the receptacle than the bosses.
I claim The design for the ornamentation of tableware, consisting in th (bottom-forming swell A, a contracted portion A, connecting the bottom swell with an upperswell A ,provided at its upper end with a mount A of conventionalized feathers and shells, the surface of the receptacle having curved flutings, some terminating on the bottom swell in bosses and others there terminating in curves treated with convent-ionalized feathers and flowers, the feather -work and flower-work being flanked by the bosses, all as described and shown.
