lie it known that 1, JOHN llOARE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Corning, in the county of Steuben and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Ornamentation of Glass and other 'are, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the aceoinpanying drawings, forming part thereof, in which- Figure I shows my design projected, and Fig. II is a side elevation of a bowl having my design applied thereto.
The leading features of my design consist in a series of links or rings and two serpentine strips or bands extending around the wall of the bowl, the bands or strips being interlaced with the links or rings, one strip or band passing over one link or ring and under the next link or ring,or vice versa, and the otherstrip or band passing under the link or ring and over the next link, or vice versa.
1 are a series of links or rings extending around the wall of the article and of nearly the height thereof.
2 are two serpentine strips or hands, also extending around the wall, interlaced with the links or rings and reaching from the bottom to a point near the top of the article and crossed and linked together within the links or rings, one strip orhand passing in front and the other strip or band to the rear of a link or ring, so that the portion of a strip or band extending in front of a link or ring passes behind the strip or band extending to the rear of the link or ring. The links or rings are shown as bounded by deep cuts Fan figures t are seen in the spaces pr0 dnced by the design.
The links or rings and strips or hands may be decorated in any manner.
Having thus described my invention, the following is what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Design Letters Patent:
The design for the ornamentation of glass and other ware,substantially as herein shown and described.
