DESiGN FOR A TOWER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,095, dated August 12, i890.
Application filed March 27, 1890` Serial No. 345,609. Term of patent 7 years.
To atl. whom t may concern:

In the illustration is represented 'in perspective a tower produced by my new design.
The leading features of my design consist, first, in the peculiar shape or configuration of the tower, and, second, in the ornamentation ofi/thc tower by raised surfaces and leaflike designs, all as will be fully set forth.
Rcferri ng tothe illustration, let a represen t the tower, which in general shape is spireformed, or tapering,r from the bottom upward to the top thereof.
b is a square base on which the tower is supported, having openings on the sides to represent doors c c. Above thc base I) is the tou-enbase d, which is also square in general contour, but is rounded off at the corners, and its upper surface has a curved outline projecting upward to a circular top, on which the standard rests.
a is the standard or tower, being a hollow shaft of uniform annular form, its lower sec tion f having the appearance of an interlaced series of lines or open net-work. This section has its lower end ornamented by a bead or raised band g, below which the surface is plain, as seen at h. At the upper end of the section f the tower is projected outward on all sides to form a square platform-like surface z', having on its under part a leaflike orna- From this rises a 4second section r, also ott uniform size, which has a similar beaded band and platform projection u, with leaflike ornamentation, Above this is a third section un, which tapers to the top and is tipped with a similar platform projection fu, with like ornamentation, and is surmounted by a ball-shaped top o. is ornainented by a series of vertical raised lines or surfaces jo p, and over these are placed a continuous line or band that winds around the shaft, as seen at q, producing the effect of operrwork. The next section r has aseries ot vertical lines over which are raised lines s, which encircle the shaft, giving the effect of square open-work. Below each platform arc suspended four cables c', which are connected by triplets to the corners of the base t. From points equidistant between the platforms are suspended similar cables in groups, extending from four points ou the shaft, (cables 10,) which spread outward and cross the vertical cables, giving the effect of a network ot cables that encircle the tower.
Having now described the features of my new design, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
