DESIGN FOR A ROOFING-TILE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,889, dated June 10, 1890.
Application filed May 14, 1890. Serial No. 351,815. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE ll. BABoocK, a citizen of the United States, residing at llainfield, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Roofing or Sheathing Tiles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
My design relates to thearehitecturalornamentation of clay or other roof-tile by raised figures on the surface thereof.
Figure l is a face View of a tile embodying my design; and Fig. l, a cross-section of Fig. 1, taken on the line 1' .1, showing the relief of the pattern.
My design consists of a pattern resembling the form of a sea urchin, both in radiating character and in raised contour, the center thereof rising prominently above the plane surface A of the tile.
This design is appropriate to various forms of tiles, but especially so to the form of interlocking tile herein shown, having a Gothic outline (i (0 upon its lower portion.
The sea-urchin pattern B is raised from a depressed ground or circular channel I), and the rays or ridges o of the pattern radiate from the apex (l obliquely (in cross-section) toward the said channel I), as seen in Fig. 2.
\Vhat I claim is- The design herein shown and described for ornainenting the surface of a roof-tile, consisting in a sea-urchin pattern in high relief radiating from an apex central to the exposed face of the tile.
