DESlGN FOR A ROOFING-TILE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No 20,404, dated December 16, 1890 Application filed May 14, 1890- Serial No. 351,812- Term of patent 14 years.
To allwhom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE ll. BABLUCK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Plaintield, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Roofing or Sheathing Tiles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The design relates to a clay or other tile having substantially a flat exposed surface, which, when assembled with other tiles of like surface, abut one another laterally and form a. continuous surface; and said design consists of a tile having for a surface ornamentation a Grecian border; and it also consists of a tile the exposed face of which is of rectangular form, having as a surface ornamentation a Grecian border.
In theaccompanying illustrations, Figure l I is a face view of a tile of the new design; and Fig. '3 illustrates a lllllllllClUi sut-h tiles in an assembled condition, illustrating the effect of the surface ornamentation and the ell'et-t of i the latter in conjunction with the shape or outline of the exposed face of the tiles.
The design relates particularly to the exposed or lower face of a tile, its upper portion partaking of various shapes.
As illustrated, the tile has diagonal upper sides' a a, which bear upper flanges. The lower or exposed portion of thetile is of root angular form in outline with a plain surface A. The Grecian border is composed of a band 1 upon the plain surface of the tile and of broken rectangular form, portionsof the band lying contiguous with two edges 1) d of the tile. The surface of the band B, forming the Grecian border, may be a plain one, or may be ornamented in various \va 's, such as by the series of convex heads 0.
