No. 19,717. Patented Mar. 25,1890.
WITNESSES: IN VENTOI? Arm/3m.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY BERRY, ()F SHELTON, CONNEUTIOU'I, ASSIGNOR T0 llilfi DERBY SILVER COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR COMBS, &,c.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,717, dated March 25, 1890.
Application filed February 24, 1890. Serial No. 341,626. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whont it may concern:
ie it known that I, HENRY BERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shelton, in the State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Handle for Combs, Brushes, Mirrors, and other Articles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof, and which shows a plan view of a comb having ahandle bearing my newly-invented design.
The leading features of my design consist in the series of corresponding ornamental scrolls along the opposite edges of the handle and forming borders therefor, said scrolls extending downward one from the other and terminating in convolutions; and my design consists, further,in certain details of surface ornamentation, all as hereinafter more particularly described.
In the drawings, A B respectively designate the series of scrolls along and embordering the opposite edges of the handle, the individual scrolls C composing the series extending downward one from the other and terminating in convolutions D. The convolutions l) at opposite edges of the handle are connected by the series of ornmnental scrolls E, extending across the body of the handle. The two upper scrolls 0, one being at each edge of the handle, are longer than the scrolls Cl below them, and form between them a panel 1*,inclosing the spray of leaves and flowers G. The opposite edges of the lower end of the handle converge downward from the lower scrolls G and inelose the ornamental scrolls H.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a handle for combs and other articles, substantially as shown and described.
In Witness whereof I hereunto affix mysignature at Shelton, Connecticut, this 18th day of February, 1890.
HENRY BERRY. In presence of WESLEY L. CLARK, J'No. J. HADLOW.
