To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HENRY TOPHAM, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadel- 5 phia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Fabric for Cloaking, &c., of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, forming part to hereof, illustrating in front elevation the design embodying the characteristic features of my invention.

The leading feature of this design consists of fanciful configurations forming stripes dis- 1 5 posed lengthwise through the goods, and these configurations formed of dots, dashes, and full lines arranged parallel, or substantially so, to each other, as hereinafter more particularly described.

In the accompanying photograph, A represents one of the stripes embodying the several characteristic features of the design repeated throughout the length of the goods. The configuration constituting the design is made of dots, dashes, or full lines disposed parallel,

or substantially so, to each other in the configurations. Starting from the top of the design, it consists of an oval-shaped fanciful figure (designated by the letter B) with pointed 0 end portions. This oval-shaped figure is made up of numerous dots, dashes, or full lines disposed parallel, or substantially so, to each other, and forming bars 0, with spaces d between each of them. In the center of this ovalshaped fanciful figure Bis a conventional fourleaf clover, C. Eetween the upper and lower terminal portions of the oval-shaped figures are inversely-arranged arrow-heads D and D, made up of dots, dashes, or full lines, and in the field adjacent to the respective arrowheads is arranged a horizontal bar, E, formed of a series of vertical parallel lines with spaces between them, but forming fanciful marks.

The above-described fanciful configurations constituting the stripes of the design are repeated throughout the goods, in the manner illustrated, for instance, in the accompanying photograph.

Having thus described the nature and objects of myinvention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for fabric for cloaking, &c., as herein described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
