DESIGN FOR A'CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,014., dated April 9, 1889.

Application filed March '7, 1889. Serial No. 302,346- Term of potent 3% years.

Be it known that I, JAMES L. FOLSOM, a eitizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have 5 invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a. specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets view of a carpet showing my new design.

My design is composed of a body, A, and a border, 13. The body A is made up of large eonventionalized flower forms or leaf and flower clusters, with here and there a large leaf form scroll-shaped in character. The b0r der B has a central rose-shaped form surrounded for the most part with large scrollshaped leaf terms. On either side of this central figure are leaf clusters. The inner 1nargin and the outer margin of the border are ornamented with small scroll forms.

\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

l. The design fora carpet, consisting of the body A, substantially as shown.

2. The design fora carpet, consisting of the border B, substantially as shown.

The design for a carpet, consisting of the body A and the border 1%, substantially as shown.
