DESIGN FOR A BASE FOR PLUMES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,599. dated September 11.1888.

Be it known that I, EDWARD Excma, ofthe city of Hoboken, Hudson county, and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Baseof Plumes, of which the following is a full, clear, and cxact specification.
My invention relates to a design for the base of' plumes; and the leading feature of the design consists in a spherical extremity surinounted by circular lilies in imitation of a corded su rface,and cord-like lines represented :is capping the said circular lines, arranged in imitation ol'a rope coil.
Reference is to be had to the accom panyiug drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which the ligure ol' the drawing is a front elevation of a. plume having my design applied.
A is the base ol thc plume, which is circular in general contour. At thc lower end or extremity of thc base a series of circular ropelike lines, u, are produced of varied length, grouped to represent a spherical body, B.
Above the spherical body B a series of cordlike lines, b, are produced, one line intersecting the other to produce the e'ect of a ring or coil, and iu the space intervening the representaton of the spherical body and the ring or coil are a series of circular lines, d, in imitation of a corded surface, the said lines d being of greatest length near the coil or ring and shortened as they approach thesphere, whereby a conical or tapering ecct is obtained.
I claim- The design for the base of a plume herein shown and described, consisting ofa series of rope-like lines at the extremity representing a spherical body, B, a series of circular lines, d, of various lengths above thc spherical body in imitation ofa conical corded surface, and a series of intersecting cord-like lines, h, above the corded surf-nce in imitation of a ring or coil.
