DESIGN FOR A BURlAL-CASKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,928, dated December 6, 188
Application filed May 20, 1881'. Serial No. 238,923. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LEO STEIN, of Rochester, in the county of Monroe, in the State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for BnrialGnskets, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a fnll, clear, and exactdescription.
My invention relates to a new and original design for burial-caskets; and it consists, essentially, ot' the design for the ornamental molding herein described and claimed.
In specifying my design, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in whieh Figure 1 is an isometric view showing my design applied to a burial-casket, and Fig. 2 is an enlarged detached View of the ornamental molding and ogee, these two views being deemed essential to illustrate my design.
The leading feature of my design consists in arranging an ornamental border-molding formed of fluted serrations having curved bottom and straight top ends, and curvilinear in cross-section at the top of the ogee molding of a burial-casket, thus securinga novel and pleasing combined effect of horizontal and verticallycurved planes rising one above the other in easy and graceful lines.
A denotes the casket, which may be of any desirable form or material.
a is the ornamental molding applied to the casket at the top of the ogee b. The molding e is composed of the serrated or fluted ribs 0, arranged in a vertical direction in relation to the moldings and curving gracefully from the top of the ogee b to the top of the molding a.
The moldings are shown applied to the easket A, as shown in Fig. 1. The upper molding and ogee are shown in close proximity to the top of the casket, the top of the molding a forming the base or support for the casket-lid, endthelower molding cxtendsaronnd the base of the casket, as shown in Fig. 1 aforesaid.
