DESIGN FOR A BURlAL-CASKET LlD.
' Application filed May 7, 1887. Serial No. 237,485.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, JOHN MAXWELL, of Oneida,in the county of Madison, in the State of New York, have invented a new and useful Design for Metallic Burial-Casket Lids, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a full, clear, and exact description.
lhis design pertains chiefly to the footscction of metallic burial-casket lids.
In the annexed drawings Figure 1 represents a plan View of a casket-lid embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a transverse section on line at as, Fig. 1.
The leading feature of my design consists in a raised or struck-up central portion of the foot-section of the lid to a plane above the marginal portion thereof,and a tapered raised central portion toward the foot of the lid, the said portion being in the form of an acute angle, the upper part of the raised central portion being embellished by figures extending from the base of the triangle toward the apex thereof.
The letter A indicates the top of the angular foot portion of the lid, which has its base adjoining the plain portion B of saidlid. The angular portion from the base extends toward Term of patent 7 years.

\Vhat I desire to claim is- The design for the lids of hurialcaskcts herein shown and described, the same consisting of the raised foot portion extending from the plain head-section at an acute angle toward the foot of the lid, the top panel of the said foot-section being embellished by an ornaniental figure extending from the points (2 to the central point, 9, and following the general contour of the angular top panel of the lid.
