DESIGN FOR A CHAIR-BACK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,395, dated November 24, 1885.
Application filed October 19, 1885. Serial No. 180,356. Term of patent 3} yearn.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK F. PARKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Vest Gardner, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, haveinvented and produced a new and original Design for Chair-Backs, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic print, forming part thereof.
The drawing shows in perspective a. chair embodying my new design.
My design is herein confined to the back of the chair; and it consists, essentially, in a. curved paneled top piece, a curved bottom piece, and an intervening frame fixed in position by rounds. The top piece, a, is curved, and has a panel, b, and suitable ornamentation, c. The bottom piece, 11, is curved, and has a. suitable ornament, e. The frame f is rectangular in shape, and is provided with a bearded or ornamented. edge, g. The frame f islocated between the top piece, a, and bottom piece, d, and retained in position by two series of rounds, h i. The frame f is provided into riorly with cane splintsm, suitably interwoven to present to the eye a. cane back for the chair.
I claim- 1. In a design for chair-backs, the curved paneled top piece, the curved bottom piece, and the intervening caned frame fixed in position between said top and bottom pieces by rounds, as set forth.
2. The herein -dcscribed design for chairhacks, consisting of the curved top 0.," its panel 6, and ornament c, the curved bottom d,with its ornament e, the open framef, having the ornamental sides 9, and canes m, and the rounds h a, connecting the frame between the said top and bottom, as set forth.
