BABY CARRIAGE BODY.
No.16,224. Patented Sept.8,1885.
ENVENTOR.:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE..
GEORGE A. ELLIS, OF GARDNER, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A BABY-CARRIAGE BODY.
i:51?BCJIPICAIION forming part. of Design No.16.224, dated September 8, 1885.
Application tiled JnnciQO, 1885. Terni of patent T years.
To aZZ` whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEDRGE A. ELLIS, of Gardner, county of Vorcester, Massachusetts, have invented a new and original Design for a Baby-Carriage Body, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, in which a perspective of my new design for baby-carriage bodies is shown.
to The leading features of my design consist in the extension of the sides A .beyond the seat aud center of the body; also, in the outwardinclined guard around the seat portion of the sides and the back, at the top edge thereof;
also, in the foot` or dash board, inclined outward and upward from the door or bottom of the body and then vertically, as will be hereinafter fully described and specifically claimed. The sides A of the body at the seat portion po B are extended forward beyond the center of the body to form the extensions A. An outward-inclined railing or guard, D, extends around the top edge of the back and sides A at the seat portion B, and terminates at the point where the extensions A begin. In front of the extensions A', and v extending forward from the front edge thereof, are the side portions, C. These side portions are about half as high as the extensions A', and are beveled 3o outward and upward at their forward ends to correspond to the inclination of the lower inclined part of the dash-board or foot E of the body. This outward inclination of the dash-board or foot E terminates at a point in line with the top edge of the side portions, C, and the part Fextendsverticailly therefrom to a point a little below the top edge of the sides A A. The top edge of the partiF is ornamented by a piece of looped material. The
4o fenders G are curved. The front edges of the extensions A are at right angles to the top edges of t-he parts C, and the junction of the front edges of the railing D and the top edges of the sides A is also angular.
The parts A A' present the appearance of 45 being closely woven, and the parts C E have upright rods or sticks. The parts A A' have a vertical raised portion, A, separating them.
The material of parts D F has a diamond design. 5o
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. In the design herein shown and described for a baby-carriage body, the sides A and eX- tensi'ons A', having the appearance of wicker- 55 work, and the outward-dared railing D along the upper edge of the part A, as set forth.
2. In the design herein shown and described for a babycarriage body, the sides A at the seat portion, the extension A', both present-76o ing the appearance of wicker-work, and the vertical raised portion A at the juncture of the parts A A', as set forth.
3. The design herein shown and described for a baby-carriage body, the same consisting in the sides A and extension A', having the appearance of wickenwork. separated by a vertical raised portion, A, the outwardflared railing D around the upper edge of the part A, the parts O in front of the front an- 7c gular ends of the extensions, and the outward and upward inclined part E and the vertical partF, the part-s D F having a diamond design, and the parts C E presenting the appearance of spaced upright rods or sticks.
