DESIGN FOR A BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,099, dated May 19,1885.
Term of patent 35 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM THEGEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Phil adelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Badges, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof, and wherein the badge embodying the design is shown in elevation.
The said badge is of that species wherein the portion to be directly attached to the per son of the wearer is provided with a dependent band of ribbon supporting a bottom crossbar and charm or pendant.
In my design the top portion, A, is shaped in imitation of a crown or coronet, having a lower band, a, a Second hand, b, lozenges between the two bands, and from the band b, which is in the shape of atwistedcord, a dou ble series of projections, c c. The series a terminate in a corresponding number of balls, d, and on the face of the crown-is the figure of a star, f.
The band D is plain.
The lower cross-bar, B, is provided with a central circular opening surrounded by a raised band, e,fron1 which extend laterally scalloped or curved arm-extensions g, and beneath said band is located foliate ornamentatiOn h.
The pendant C is shaped like a star, and has an: inner opening of like shape. It has raised edges bounding its periphery and surrounding the inner opening. Between these edges it is ornamented with scroll-work and arbitrary lines, and at its point of union with the cross-bar B other scroll-work surmounted by a ring is located.
Having thus described my invention, I claim- The design for badges herein shown and described, consisting of a top piece shaped like a crown or coronet and bearing a star, the plain portion I), the cross-bar B, provided with a plain center, and with ornamental wing-extensions, and the pendant C, of star shape, and having a star-shaped opening, raised edges, and ornamental scroll-work between such edges, substantially as described and shown.
