DESIGN FOR A JEWELRY PENDANT AND CHARM.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No, 12,400, dated August 2, 1881.
Application filed July 7,1881. Term of patent 3-1; years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PHILIP O. MAsI, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hyatts ville, in the county of Prince George and State 5 of Maryland, have originated and invented a new and useful Design for Jewelry Pendants 'and Charms; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a representation of one side of my invention, and Fig. 2 is a view of the other side.
The design herein referred to is intended for jewelry pendants and charms to be worn by Way of ornament and in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the surrender of the British forces at Yorktown, in the State ofVirginia; and to that end the design consists in the novel configuration and arrangement of a central medal bearing on the obverse an illustration of the act of surrender, and on the reverse an inscription referring to the date and PATENT OFFICE.
circumstances thereof, said medal being suspended within a circular or oval opening in a star having thirteen points, bearing on one side the figure of a star on or near each point, and on the opposite side, similarly arranged, the names, or abbreviations thereof, of the thirteen States represented by the commander-inchief, the victorious army on the occasion referred to.
I claim- The design for jewelry pendant and charm, consisting of a medallion illustration of thc surrender at Yorktown, and an open thirteenpointed star carrying the figures of thirteen stars and the names of thirteen States, and surrounding the medallion, substantially as specified.
