Be it known that I, JOHN GRAHAM, a citizen ot'the United States. residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, haveinvented and produced a new and original Design for a Font ot' Printing-Type, of which the following is a specitieatit'nnreterence being had therein to the accompanying drawmg.

My invention consists of a new design for a font of printing-type having the peculiarly- 'l'ormedletters and tignres shown in the accom ptulying printed specimens and hereinafter described.

The beginning and terminal ends and the upper and base lines of most of the capitals and. small letters are tapered to a fine sharp point. The capital letters A, I), I], F, and Z and small letter a have angular top lines in clined obliquely downward to the left and rightt'romtheangle. The cross central stroke of the letter A is angular and disconnected from the left line of the letter. The capital letters I; I It and one form of letter I) have their toplines inclined obliquelyupward from the left side of the letters. The letters E, L, and Z have angular lower lines inclined obliq uely upward right and left from the angles. The capital letter G has an oblique line across the lower curve. The central line of the capital letter R is angular and disconnected from the right vertical line of the letter. The top of J is formed with a long horizontal line. The letter M has an angular oblique line disconnected from the left portion of the letter. The top of the left vertical line of K and of V has a line inclined upward to the left, termi nating in a fine point. The tops ofthe letters L and M, theleft line of \V, and the rightline of N and Y areinelined obliquely upward to the right and terminate in fine points. The lower portion of Y terminates in a tapered line inclined obliquely downward to the right. The tops of thestems of the small letters band d are formed with horizontal cross-lines. hhasthe upper horizontal cross-line, and the upper line of the right portion is angular and disconnected from the stem. The top of the upper portion of the small letter k is formed with a backward scroll. The upper lines ol'theright portionsot' the letters n1 and n are ai'lgularand disconnected from the left port ions of t hese let ters. One of the oblique lines of the small letter K is formed in two angular parts disconnected from the other portion of the letter.

The figures 1, 2, 3, t, and 5 have a tapered pointed finish, as shown. The upper portion of the figure S is angular and terminates with downward left oblique lines. The ends otthe lines torlning the character 8; are angular and disconnected.

The new design for a font of printingtype, as herein set forth,and as shown in the printed specimens.
