UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MYRON H. KINSLEY, OF NIAGARA FALLS, NE\V YORK.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON OR FORK HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,6(8, dated Fetruaxy 5, 1884.
Application filed November 26, 1880. Term of patent 7 rears.
Z'o ail whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MYRON H. KINSLEY, of Niagara Falls, in the count-y of Niagara and State of New York, have invented a new Design for Spoon and Fork Handles; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view.
This invention relates to a design for the handles of spoons, forks, and like articles of table-service; and it consists in the con figuration and ornamentation of the handle, as hereinafter described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
The handle grad nally expands from near the bowl to the end. At the end the handle is cut square across and the angles cut away in concave shape. From the boss a a bead at the edge follows the line of the sides of the bandle and the curves at the angles, but across the top, is curred in concave shapethat is, curved downward onto the face of the handle. At the extreme tip the space above the concave portion of the head is filled by a fanshapcd ornament. Springing from the center across the face isa plain hand, b, bordered by a bead at the top and bottom. On the space below is a diagonal plain band,c.. Across the face, between the plain band b and the point where the diagonal band 0 starts, is a trans verse ornamen' e 1 band, d. The surface within the bead. except the plain bands b and c, is matted and ornamented by tracery. as shown in the accompanyingillustration. This ornamentation may be varied without materially changing the design.
I claim- The herein-described design for spoon and fork handle", consisting in the handle gradually expanding to the end, the tip square. the angles cut concave, the edges headed, the bead following the line of the edges to the tip, and there curved down onto the face of the handle, a plain hand, I), transversely across the face of the handle between the beads, and a diagonal plain band, 0, below, the remaining space within the handle ornamented, substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
MYROX H. KIXSLEY.
