DESIGN FOR SPOON.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,510, dated November 18, 1879; application filed October 23,1-379 [Term of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern v Be it known that 1,JOHN M. GULVER, of Wailingtord, in the countyot'Xew Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Spoons; and I do hereby declare the tollowing, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face View.
This invention relates to a design for the handle of spoons, forks, and similar articles; and the design consists in the ornamentation of the handle, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
The outline or shape of the handle is commen and well knownthat is, lancet-shaped tip, thence gradually contracting to near the bowl, then expanding and running into the edge of the bowl.
The face has a spirally-curved ornamented band, (1 running from one edge to the other. Below this band, at the narrow part of the handle, is a boss, I), and below this boss, at the point where the handle begins to expand, is a second, boss, 0. The surface between the two bosses b c is recded longitudinally. From the upper boss a floriated vine springs and runs up the surface, apparently behind the band, onto the surface above, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
I claim- The herein-described design for ornamentation of spoon-handles, consisting of the spirally-curved band a, bosses b 0 below, reeded surface between said bosses, and fioriatcd vine running from the boss I) up onto the surface above the band, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
