Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GARRY I. MIX, OF YALESVILLE, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS OR FORKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,914, dated May 2, 1882.
Application filed March 14, 1882. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GARRY I. MIX, of Yalesville, in the county of New Haven, and in the State ot' Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Designs for Handles of Spoons and Forks; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this specification, which drawing represents a face view.
This invention relates to a design for the handles of spoons, forks, ladles, and other like articles of table service 5 and it consists in the configuration and ornamentation, as hereinafter described, and as shown in the accompanying illustration.
At a point about midway longitudinally of the handle is an ornamental band, a, which extends transverselyr across the same, from which point upward the edges of said handle expand in slightly-curved lines until they intersect with the ends of the semicircular tip 11. An ornamental band, c, extends transversely across the handle near the tip b, and a second ornamental band, d, extends diagonally across said handle between the hands a and c.
The edge of the handle above the band a may or not be beaded, and the spaces between the bands a, c, and d and between said band c and the tip b, or either ot them, may be ornamented, if desired. Said ornaments are preferably in relief, but may be incised, if desired.
Having thus fully set forth the nature of my invention, what I claim as new is- The design for the handles of spoons, forks, ladles, &c., consisting of the transverse bands a and c and the diagonal band d, formed upon or within the face ot' a handle having substantially the form shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 1st day of March, 1882.
GARRY I. MIX. Witnesses: c
W. A. KENDETOK, W. F. MAscHMEYER.
