DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,031, dated July 3, 1883,
Application filed May 22, 1883.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL PIGNOT, of You'kers, \Vestchester county, State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
The accompanying photograph illustrates my new design for carpets.
This invention relates to a new design for carpets, oil-cloths, and analogous fabrics; and it consists of the new ornamentation of parts herein more fully pointed out.
On a mottled background, A, is the representation, B, of a large and symmetrical group of flowers and leaves, the central part of said group being composed of rose-like flowers a, from which radiate bunches, b, of smaller flowers, that are set off by leaves cl. The rose-like flowers a a appear to rest on drooping leaves e. Above this group B in the photograph is Term of patent 3; years.
a fanciful scroll, (l, which extends across the breadth of the carpet, and which, when the carpet is matched, will be between four groups, Bthat is to say, there will be such a group B above, another below, another at its right, and another at its left, one terminal, f, of the scroll 0 being represented at the right-hand side of the group B, at the lower part thereof, in the photograph. In this scroll C are apparently held, and with it are, to an extent, intertwined, sprays D of flowers, producing a graceful effect.
