UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ISAAC ROSENBERG, OF NEV HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A CORSET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,727, dated January 31, 1882.
Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I, ISAAC ROSENBERG, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for a Corset, and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of referenee marked thereon, to be afull, clear, and exact description ot' the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a front View.
This invention relates to a design for ornamenting the breast portion of a corset; and it consists in the ornamental gores, as shown in the accompanying illustration, and hereinafter described.
The cut of the corset is made to receive gores A, A, and B. These gores, instead of being made plain .or ornamented by embroidery, as in the usual construction, present on their outer surface a gathered or shirred-Iike appearance, as shown in the accompanying illustration. For the purpose of information as to how these ornamental gores are best prepared, I would state that a thin fabric cut to the proper shape is gathered upon its edges in`A the usual manner of rufding or shirrin g fabrics, and this gathered, shirred, or t'ulled part is laid onto the gore and stitched into the adjacent parts with the gore; but this method of producing the ornamentation is no part of this design, it only being essential to the design that the surface of the gores shall present a shirred or fulled appearance.
I claimp The design for corset, consisting in the gores presenting a shirred or fulled appearance, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
ISAAC ROSENBERG.
