SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,403, dated August 9, 1881.

To alliohom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LE ROY W. FAIECHILD, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at New York, in the county and State ot New York, have invented a new and original Design for Cases t'or Pencils and similar articles, ot' which the following is a spectication, reference heing had to the accompanying illnstration,t`orlning part thereof.
The accompanying print represents aside elevation, and also an end View, of my design.
The design consists ot" a case the body ot' which represents a bottle, as shown at A, in the bottom of which is inserted a small compass, as shown in the end View at] E. The neck of the hottlc mayr bcornamcntcd or not, as preferred, and has a ring, D, attached, hy which to suspend the case.
B represents the extension portion of the case, and is provided at its outer end with a part, C, made to represent the head of a bottle with a cork secured by wire, after the style of champagne-bottles, as shown, the parts being so arranged that when the case is closed it has the appearance of a bottle with a compass inserted in its lower end.
The several parts may be made of different metals or different shades ot' the sume metal, and thus he made to present a very rich appearance. It is designed to be worn on a. Watchchain as a charm or ornament, but may he ntilized as a case for a magic pencil, tooth-pick, glove-huttoner, or any similar small imple ment.
Having' thus described my invention, what I claim is The herein-described design fora case, ccnsisting ofthe bottle A, havingthe compass E placed in the bottom thereof, and the neck ot' the bottle having a ring, D, attached, substantially as described.
