Description

msnm/MAME Ccm H- JAWORSKI- Door-Pulls.
APgggnpd Jne 8, 1880,.
UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICED HERMANN JAWORSKI, OF NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO SARGENT 85 CO., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR DOOR--PU LL.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HERMANN JAwoRsKr, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Door-Pulls; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in-
Figure l, front view of the plate; Fig. 2, front view of the handle.
This invention relates to a design for the plate and handle, which are together attached to a door to serve as a convenient means for opening or closing the door, and commonly called door-pulls; and the designI consists in the contigui-ation and ornamentation of the plate and of the handle, as shown in the accom panyin g illustrations.
The body of the plate is in form of a parallelogram, each side, near each end, turning outward at an angle of about forty-five degrees, thence contracting and terminatin g in a halfquarterfoil-shaped tip. This gives the general outline of the plate. Its ornamentation is produced by bands A transversely across its face and apparently projecting slightly from the surface. From the bands, around each end, and between the bands, aborder surrounds the edge, forming a panel-surface. Between the bands a series of points are formed on the surface inside the, edge pointing inward. At the center on each edge `is an enlargement, segment-shaped, the surface ornamented by a fanshaped ornament. On theface, at the center, is a diagonal band, B, extending from the points at one side to the points on the opposite side, with a transverse narrower band above and below, connecting with the diagonal band by ribs on the surface. On the tips is a fan-shaped ornament, and at the ends of the body of the plate a series of points turn inward toward the panel. The surface between the parts described is ornamented by floriated tracery, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
The handle between the two arms C C presents the usual outline. The surface is ornamented by a series of points along each edge, turning inward, and at the center is a rosette surrounded by a ring with diagonal ribs running from the central rib and the ring toward each side. The tips of the handle consist of a frustum of a cone-shaped base, D, longitudinally reeded, and on this base the tip proper is placed.
The handle and plate are designed to be used together 3 but a handle of different design may be used with the plate, or vice versa. The design therefore is not to be understood as limited to the combination of the particular handle and plate shown.
I claiml. The design for door-pull plate, consisting of the body in form of a parallelogram, turning angularly outward at each ed gc, near each end, thence tipped with a half-quarterfoil shape, as shownin the accompanying illustration.
2. The design for doorpull plate, consisting of the body in form of a parallelograin, with a transverse band, A, on the surface, near each end, with a border extending from each band around the plate and along the edge between the bands, and a series of points adjacent to said border between the bands, and at each end with a diagonal band, B, at the center between the borders, and transverse band above and below, and connected to said diagonal band by ribs on the surface, as shown in the accompanying illustrations.
3. The design Ifor door-pull handle, consisting of the series of points forming a border for the edge, with a rosette at the center and diagonal ribs on the surface, extending from the central line toward the border, as shown in the accompanying illustrations.
HERMANN JAWORSKI.
