\VILLIAM ll. TOMEY, OF \VALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE R. \VALLACE & SONS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,498, dated June 6, 1893.
Application filed Apr-i121, 1893. Serial No. 471,345. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM H. TOMEY,of Wallingford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for a Spoon; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view.
This invention relates toadesign for spoons, and consists in the configuration and ornamentation as shown in the accompanying illustration and hereinafter described.
The end of the handle is composed of a bust A, of Christopher Columbus, wearing a cap or turban, and supported upon a geographical globe l3, overlaid upon its outer edge with sprays of laurel leaves C, and upon its inner edge with a ribbon D, and another spray of laurel leaves E. The globe is supported upon the capital E, of a pillar, the said capital being rested upon a long scroll F, in the rococo style of ornamentation. This scroll terminates at its inner end in a shield G, displaying the arms of Spain. This shield is attached to the bowl H of the spoon, which contains in relief the pictorial representation of Columbus before the King and Queen at Barcelona.
I claim The design for a spoon as described and shown in the accompanying illustration.
