DESIGN FOR TRIMMING.
Specification forming part of Design No. l 1,291, dated July 8, 1879; application filed May 3, 1879. [Term of patent 3l years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES M. SHANAHAN, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented or originated a new Design l`o1"1`rinnning, of which the followingis a full, clear, and exact description, refer ence being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
This design is adapted to liuted or quilled trimmings of any desired width, the design or ornamentation heilig embossed or in relief.
The design consists, essentially, of two border rows of parallel iiutings arranged crosswise of the strip of material, and a row or rows of oblique pyramidnl frusta arranged centrally on the strip of goods between the border liutings.
In the drawings, Figure 1 shows a strip of trimming ornamented accordingl to my design, :1nd haring one row of the oblique pyrnmidal frusta. Fig. L shows a wider strip, in which two rows of the frusta are employed, the elements of thc design and the arrangement being the same as that in Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a section of l? ig. l, arranged to show the relief or elevation of the elements of the design.
In all of these figures, A A represent the usual border tintin gs orquillin gs, and B the ohlique pyramidal frusta.. The bases and apexes of the latter are of diamond shape, and they are arranged in line from end to end of the trimming, or lengthwise of the same, parallel with the border rows of utings.
What I claim as my design isl. The design for trimming, which consists of border tiutings A, and pyramidal frusta B, substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying drawings.
2. The design for trimming, which consists of two raised border rows of lutings, A A, and an intermediate row of oblique pyramidal frusta, l,substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying drawings.
3. The design for trimming, which consists of a centrally-arranged row or rows of oblique pyramidal frusta and two rows of border liutings or quillings parallel to 'the central row or rows, and in relief, substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying drawings.
