DESIGN FOR AN UMBRELLA-HANDLE.

Specification forming part of Design No. 11,144, dated April 8, 1879; application filcd'March 8, 1879, [Term of patent 3% years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, F. JULIUs KALDEN- BERG, of New York city, county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Handle for Umbrellas and Parasols, of which the following is afull, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation, and Fig. 2 a rear elevation, of my improved handle for umbrellas and parasols.

Similar letters of reference indicate correspondin g parts.

This invention relates to an improved design for the handles of umbrellas and parasols; and consists of a handle made in the shape of a sword, with hilt, guard, and blade, to the guard of which a shield is hung by a diagonal band.

Referring to the drawings, A represents the hilt, B the guard, and U a portion of the blade, which parts constitute my improved design for an umbrella or parasol handle, and impart to it the general appearance of a sword.

The ends of the hilt and guard are finished off by means of round or other tips a. A shield, D, of oval, round, or other shape, is placed over the junction of the hilt and guard, it being hung thereto by an ornamental band, 11, that extends diagonally across the spherical connection of hilt and guard, as shown in Fig. 2. In this manner a very striking and ornamental design for handles of parasols, umbrellas, &c., is obtained.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The design for an umbrella or parasol handle, consisting of the representation of a sword-hilt, with a guard and portion of the blade, and having a shield over the junction of the hilt and guard, substantially as shown and described.

2. The design for an umbrella or parasol handle, consisting of the representation of a sword-hilt, A, guard B, having end tips, a a, the blade portion 0, and an oval shield, D, placed diagonally over the junction of hilt and guard, substantially as shown and described.

3. The design for an umbrella or parasol handle, consisting of a representation of a sword-hilt, A, guard B, and blade portion 0,

having a circumferential band, 0?, extending diagonally over the spherical junction of the hilt and guard, substantially as shown and described.
