CANE AND UMBRELLA HANDLE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, MosEs STERNHEIMER, ot' the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oaneand Umbrella llandles,of which the following is a specification.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side view, and Fig. 2 a Vertical central section, of my improved cane and um ,brella handle.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

This invention has reference to an improved handle for canes, umbrellas, parasols, whiphandles, and other articles in which the concare portion of the horn at the junction of the hollow main portion with the solid tip is utilized, and the invention consists of a handle made of a central screw-threaded wire rod, upon which a series of disks is strung and retained by solid end pieces or terminals.

In the drawings, A represents a central screw-threaded wire rod, which forms the in terior or core of my improved handle for canes, umbrellas, 85c. Upon this core is strung up tightly and closely to each other a series of perforated disks, B, which are obtained from that portion of the horn at the junction of the tip with the hollow main portion, which portion was heretofore thrown away as waste.

The handle is finished by solid end pieces, 0, which are made of the tips of the horn. It may be made in any suitable shape, plain, ribbed, or fancy, as desired. The same construction may also be applied to the manufacture of entire canes. The whole forms a strong, neat, and cheap handle for the purposes indicated.

I am aware that cane-handles made of several perforated pieces secured by terminals or end pieces to a metallic wire core are well known, and I do therefore not claim the same broadly.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A handle for canes and umbrellas, consisting of a central screw-threaded wire core, a series of centrally-perforated disks screwed close to each other upon the core, and solid end pieces or terminals, essentially as set forth.
