Description

08-310. OR b10002) EX Design No. l0,029, dated May 29, 1877 UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIoE.
LOUIS WIDMAYER, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO P. & F. CORBIN, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR DOOR-KNOBS.
Specification forming part of Design No. [0,029, dated May 29, 1877 application filed April 25, 1877.
[Term of Patent 14 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS WIDMAYER, of New Britain, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have originated and produced a new and original Design for a Door-Knob, of which the following is a fill], clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying engraving, making part of this specification.
The form of the knob A is cylindrical, and the sides B and face or front end C are ornamented in relief on a sunken ground. Upon the sides B of the cylindrical knob there is a band, a a, at each end, which encircle the knob. The depressed or sunken ground between these bands we is preferably ornamented by rosettes, leaflets, scrolls, and other ornamentations, as shown. The face C of the knob is bordered by two concentric bands, and the space inclosed thereby is ornamented by various raised ornaments, mostly branching out from the raised central figure, and near the edge, interspersed with the other on naments, is a concentric row of raised circular ornaments, as shown. The groundwork not covered by the raised figures and ornaments is slightly roughened. One of the concentric bands on this front might be omitted, ifdesired; or the two might be widened, so as to merge into each other in one broad hand without changing the other features of my design.
I claim as my invention 1. In a cylindrical door-knob, the design for the sides B, ornamented by hands a a at each end, and with the sunken or depressed surface between said bands, substantially in the manner above described.
2. In a cylindrical door-knob, the design for the sides B, ornamented by raised ornaments on the depressed or sunken ground between the bands at a, substantially in the manner above described.
3. In a cylindrical door-knob, the design for the central portion of the face 0, consisting, essentially, of the concentric row of raised circular ornaments, interspersed with the other raised figures, substantially in the manner shown and described.
CHARLES PEoK, HENRY A. BAILEY.
