Be it known that I, JORDAN L. MOTT, of Hott Haven, in the county of Westchester, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in BoilerLStands, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and in which- `Figure l represents an elevation offa boiler-stand, constructed in accordance with my invention, and

Figure 2, a central section of the same.

Figures 3 and 4 show sectional views of detached portions of a series of stands, as nested to facilitate transportation.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

Stands for kitchen-boilers have been variously constructed, but with no, or very imperfect provision for nesting, when makingr and shipping or transporting them in. quantities, so that such 'articles are not only very liable to breakage, but involve heavy charges for freight, by reason ot the large packing-space a series of stands occupy. t

My improvement relates to boiler-stands of' a pillarforrn or construction, to nest which with advantage, I find it is not only necessary to ind a proper dividingline, but also, to make each part of a form that will nest with corresponding parts or portions, and that the fastening employed to hold the divided portions ot each stand together, should in no ways interfere with the 'nesting of corresponding parts.

To this end I construct the boiler-stand, 'as represented in the accompanying drawing, of a hollow tapering column, A, with suitable base,l open at its bottom, so. that a series of such columns may be nested the one within the other, as shown in g, and of an upper portion, B, made up oi' a ring, a, 'ou which the boiler rests, side-ribs l), and bottom disk c, all suitably proportioned, and shaped to give to said portion B a hollow tapering character, in order that a series of suchk upper portions' may be nested the onewithin the `othcr, asillustrated in tig. 4.

In putting the parts together, to make `them into stands, it is only necessary to it the disk o over, in, or on the closed upper portion of the column A, and to connect them by-a short pin, C, arranged tosorew into the top of the column, so that the iasteningin no secured bynut, within or under a closed base, to the cohunn.
