Be it known that I, JAMns P. WRIGHT,

' a citizen of the United States, residing at Camden, in the county of Ouachita and State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shaving- Brushes, of which thefollowing is a -specification.

My invention has relation to new and use- .ful improvements in shaving brushes and the principal object thereof is to produce a brush of this kind that may be lengthened or shortened whenever desired. Often it is found desirable to have the brush short so that the beard can be scrubbed well before shaving thereby softening the beard preparatory to shaving. My brush is so constructed that this may be easily done and by 'the simple adjustment of a sleeve the brush may be put to the use of an ordinary shaving brush that is, to lather the face.

When the sleeve is in the desired position, such as illustrated in Fig. 1 or such as illustratedin Fig. 2, the sleeve is turned so that the ridges 5 bind against the body of the handle 1, as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 5. When it is desired to change the position of the sleeve the same is loosened or unlocked by turning it so that the ridges 5 will register with the grooves 4, when the sleeve may he slid longitudinal to a new positionand againlocked in place.

Although I have specifically described the combination, construction and arrangement of the several parts of my invention, yet I may reserve and exercise the right to make such changes therein as do not depart from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim and which may be found necessary in the manufacture thereof.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

In a-shaving brush of the class described the combination of a handle, a portion of which is provided with a plurality of longitudinal grooves cut therein, a sleeve provided with a plurality of inwardliy extending ribs encircling said brush an adapted to be slid longitudinally thereupon, said ribs of the sleeve registering with the grooves in said handle, said sleeve adapted to be locked in position by turning the sleeve so that the ribs thereof will bind against the body portion of said handle.
