GRACE L. BRICKER, 0F ANDERSON, INDIANA.
COMBINATION COMB AND BRUSH.
Application filed June 30, 1916.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, GRACE L. BRICKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at- Anderson, in the county of Madison, State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Combination Comb and Brush; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to a new and useful combination comb and brush, and an object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind that appeals very strongly to business women and housewives, who can scarcely take the time, and are sometimes too tired to comb and brush. their hair, whereas with this particular construction of device substantially two minutes of combing and brushing is sufficient.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device comprising simple, efficient and practical features of construction.
()ne of the features of construction is to provide a. wood body substantially triangular in cross section, the two beveled faces of which are provided with brush bristles, there being an elongated recess extending longitudinally of the body or wood portion of the brush, where the beveled faces adjoin, for the reception of a comb, which may be easily removed, but while the comb is in said recess a person, male or female, may comb and brush the hair at the same time. In other words. the comb passes through the hair angularly which holds one or the other of the brushes on the surface of the hair, readily smoothing the hair subsequently to combing it.
Another object of the invention is to construct the recess tapering, so as to prevent downward movement of the comb, the body of which is correspondingly tapered, to fit the recess. It is to be seen that the comb is readily removable, in order that when the teeth of one comb become broken, another comb may be inserted.
In practical fields the details of construction may necessitate alterations, falling within the scope of what is claimed.
The invention comprises further features and combinations of parts, as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, and claimed.
In the drawings,

improved combination comb and brush constructed in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view on line 22 of Fig. l. leferring more especially to the drawmgs,
l designates the wood portion or body of the brush having the handle 2, which body and the handle are constructed in two sections 3 and i, which sections are secured together by the pins 5, (3, 7 and 8. It will be seen that the pin 5 secures the two seetious of the handle together, while the pins 6 and 8 secure the ends of the body of the wood portion of the brush together, whereas the pin 7, .which is partly arched, secures the central portions of the two sections of the body of the brush together. The opposite ends of the pins 5 to S inclusive are riveted, as shown at 9, to prevent displacement of the sections; in other words, to insure a solid and firm construction. Thetwo sections of the body, in cross section, are of such a shape that when secured together, as shown and described, a body is formed substantially triangular or three-cornered in cross section. Projecting from the faces 10 of this body, which faces are angular to each other, are the usual brush bristles 11, which are angular to the comb 12. Portions of the faces 13 of the two sections are cut away or recessed, as shown at 14, so that when the sections are secured together, as shown, atapering recess 15 is constructed, for the reception of the body portion 16 of the comb 12, the teeth 17 of which project beyond the wood portion and the bristles The invention having been fully set forth,-
what is claimed as new and useful is In a device of the character described, a back SUbStfiIltlflLV triangular in cross section and having a handle, said back and handle being formed from two triangularly shaped sections, said sections having one of their surfaces adjacent their apex edge rabbeted,
the rabbets adapted to register with each other when the sections are brought together, thereby forming a recess for the creception of a comb, one face of each section being at an acute angle to the comb and provided with bristles, rivets extending transversely through the sections from the acute faces thereof and at right angles to the comb, and a pin passing through the sections and being centrally arched so that the end portions extend at right angles to the bristle carrying faces of the sections at a point below the ends of the transversely 15 GRACE L.
