TOOTH- BRUSH.
SPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 416,401, dated December 3, 1889.
Application filed February 8, 1889- Serial No. 299,124. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern; 4
Be it known that I, BE LE V. OUsHMAN, otNewYork, in the county and State of New YQrk, have invented a new and Improved Tooth-Brush, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved tooth-brush, which serves for the usual purposes for which suchbrushes are used, and also for conveniently removing powder from the powder-box.
The invention consists of a tooth-brush handle carrying at one end the brush-bristles, and provided at 'its other end with a cavity forming a spoon.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure 1 is a plan View of the improvement, and Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation of the same on the line a: 00 of Fig. 1.
'The improved tooth-brush is provided with a handle B, carrying at one end the usual bristles G, and at its other end it is provided with a cavity D, forming a spoon.
The tooth-brush A is used in the ordinary manner for brushing the teeth, and italso serves for conveniently removing, with the spoon D, the powder from the powder-box. By dipping the spoon end of the handle B into the powder-box powder can be conveniently removed in any desired quantity and placed in the palm of the hand or on a pad of desired construction. The bristles C of the brush can then be rubbed over the powder on the pad, so that the powder will adhere to the bristles and can be applied with the latter to the teeth.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As a new article of manufacture, a toothbrush provided with a spoon made integral with the handle, substantially as shown and 45 described.
