T INVENTOR- Oscar Tfiom OSCAR S. THOMPSON, 01? DALLAS, TEXAS.
REVOLVING BAG-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. '7, 1911.
Application filed October 31, 1910. Serial No. 589,918.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OsoAR S. THOMPSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dallas, in the county of Dallas and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Revolving Bag-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in revolving bag holders. Its object is to provide a bag holder which will be provided with a number of spring clamping devices adapted to support a consider able number of bags of various sizes, the bag holder being readily revoluble so that a person may quickly obtain any required size of bag without much exertion.
A further object is to provide a device of the character described that will be strong, durable and comparatively easy to construct, and also one which will not be likely to get out of working order.
With these and various other objects in view my invention has relation to certain novel features of operation and construction an example of which is described in the fol.- lowing specification, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
In this drawing a perspective view of the device is shown, which view in conjunction with the following description will make the construction quite clear.
The invention consists in a stationary frame or standard upon which is mounted a revoluble frame carrying the bag receivers. The stationary frame is provided with a base composed of two members, each having the form of an inverted V. These members are arranged in perpendicular planes, and are rigidly connected at their apices. The two legs A of each member are further braced and strengthened by cross pieces B centrally connected. Each leg A is provided with a flange C by which it may be secured to the floor. A vertical rod D passes through the base members and through the centers of the rods B. The lower extremity of this rod is supported by a plate E secured to the underside of one of the bars B at the center thereof. Upon the upper extremity of the rod D a plate F is centrally sup ported, said plate being provided with a U- shaped bar upon its underside, through which the rod D passes. From this plate a plurality of arms H extend downwardly and outwardly, each pair of opposite arms being braced near their lower portions by bars J, through the center of which bars the rod D passes. Each arm I-I carries a plurality of resilient clamps K, which are adapted to receive paper bags. No novelty is claimed for the particular construction of the clamp K shown in the accompanying illustration, and it is obvious that various forms of clamps or receivers might be used equally well in conjunction with the herein described bag holder.
The construction above described embodies the maximum cheapness and enables the merchant to always have paper bags of any size within easy reach.
What I claim is:
In a revolving bag holder, the combination with a standard consisting of two members, each having the form of an inverted V with flanged lower extremities rigidly connected at their apices, of braces connecting the legs of each V shaped member, a vertical rod passing through the apices of said V- shaped members, and through the centers of the braces, a plate secured to the underside of one of the braces supporting the lower extremity of the vertical rod, and a revoluble member consisting of a plate centrally supported by the Vertical rod, a U-shaped bar secured to the underside of said plate through which the rod passes, a plurality of arms extending downwardly and outwardly from the plate, braces connecting each pair of opposite arms, through the centers of which the vertical rod passes, and devices adapted to receive bags attached to said arms.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
OSCAR s. THOMPSON.
Witnesses J. S. MURRAY, S. It. HIcKMAN.
