To all 'whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES T. EHMLING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Calendars, of which the following is a speciication.

My invention relates to improvements in calendars, and more particularly to calendars of the perpetual type, the object of the invention being to provide improved mounting for cards or tags, which holds the tags in a vertical position against possibility of accidental movement, and which permits the vcards to be shifted or turned upward or downward in order to indicate the date.

A further object is to provide an improved construction of wire clip or fastener, adapted to be secured to a board or card, and support the cards in their two positions, and hold the upper cards against possibility of accidentally falling down.

With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out inthe claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1, is a view in front elevation illustrating my improvements. Fig. 2, is a view in longii tudinal section, and Fig. 3, is a detail perspective view of one of the wire clips or holders.

intermediate portion, forming a tongue 3 adapted to be positioned against the backing l. The ends of the wire are then bent as shown at 4:, and extend outwardly and upwardly at an angle as shown most clearly in Fig. 2, and are then curved upwardly and inwardly as shown at 5, and lthen extended downwardly and inwardly as shown at 6, and the ends of the wires which are screw threaded, are bent slightly at an angle as shown at 7, and projected through openings in the backing l, and are securely held by nuts 8, washers 9 being preferably interposed between the nuts 8 and the backing 1.

As shown in Fig. 2, when the nuts are turned tightening the Wire clips or holders, the tongue portions 3 are clamped against t-he backing, and the portions 6 inclined upwardly from their inner to their outer ends to effectually hold the cards or tags 10 and 1l respectively, in an upright position.

While I do not limit myself to any particular number of these clips and cards, I preferably employ two clips, one above the other, the upper clip supporting a series of cards l1, which contain the months of the year, while the lower series of cards cont-ain numerals indicating the days of the month.

As shown in Fig. l, the upper cards are turned on the clip so as to indicate the month August, while the first card only of the series of cards 10 is turned down to expose the numeral 2. By changing these cards about o-n the clips, any day of the year can be indicated, and the device will therefore operate as a perpetual calendar. Due to the inclination of the part 6 of the clips or holders 2, the cards 10 and 11 are prevented from tilting forward and falling down, as they are held back by gravity againstthe backing, and any forward tipping movement of the upper ends o-f the cards is checked by the lower ends of the cards engaging those behind them.

Thile I have shown eyelets 12 in the several cards 10 and 11 to facilitate their manipulation on the clips or holders, I do not of course limit myself to any particular manner of forming the openings in the cards to receive the clips. The backs of the cards l0 and 11 may contain advertising matter, and a suitable cord or hanger lla is preferably provided at the top to suspend the device on a suitable hook o-r nail on the wall.

In assembling the parts, the cards are first and the latter are secured to the backing l by the nuts 8.

A great many slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not restrict myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the claims.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A calendar comprising a normally vertical backing, a Wire clip holder comprising a single piece of Wire bent forming two pairs of card supports, both members of each pair inolining upward from their inner to the outer ends and secured to the backing and cards on said clip or holder.

2. A calendar comprising a normally Ver tical backing, a wire clip holder comprising a single piece of wire bent forming an intermediate portion positioned against the out-e1` face of said backing, and the ends of said wire bent at each end, two pairs of outwardly and upwardly projecting card supporting members, and means for securing the ends of said wire to the backing and 1 binding the intermediate portion against the face of said back.
