Be it known that I, RICHARD H. CABELL, J r., residing at Millers, in the county of Esmeralda and State of Nevada, have invented a new and Improved Post-Card or Picture Hanger, of which the following is a specification.

This invention, which generally relates to means for holding and displaying post cards, photographs and other like articles, primarily has for its object to provide a device adapted for hanging or supporting a number of cards, photos and the like, either in vertical or horizontal alinement, that can be readily made up in desired lengths, of a very simple and inexpensive construction', and of neat design and especially adapted for the quick attachment thereto or removal therefrom of the pictures'or cards to be displayed thereby. Y

Jnother object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive means for decorating walls with pictorial postcards, kodak prints, ete., that is more especially designed as an advertising medium, since its cost of manufacture permits of giving the article away, its size small enough for being packed with goods, and the face thereof so shaped that the space cards or pictures can be utilized for prominently bearing a trade mark or other like distinguishing character.

Another and important object of my invention is to provide an improved construction of hanger of the general type stated, in which the parts thereof are so formed that sectional portions of the hanger can be readily interlocked at the ends to form a continuous strip and in which the cards are so held thereon that the hanger proper is scarcely seen.

With other objects in view that will hereinafter appear, my invention is a picture hanger that embodies the peculiar features of construction and novel combination of the parts hereinafter fully explained, speciically pointed out in the claims and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of one of my picture hangers the same showing the pictures displayed in the horizontal plane. Fig. 2 is a similar view that shows the hanger pendently supported for displaying the pictures in vertical alinement. Fig. 3, is a detail perspective view of one end of between adjacent the holder. Fig. 4f, is a detail perspective view of the otherend of the holder. Fig. 5, is a perspective view illustrating the manner of joining the ends of the holders. Fig. 6, is a perspective view showing the position of the interlocking slots when the, ends of the holders are joined. Figs. 7, 8, and 9 are detail sections on line 7--7, 8-8 and 9-9 of Figs. 5, 6 and 1, respectively. Fig. 10, is a detail perspective view showing a strip embodying two other types of incisions. Fig. 11 is a detail view that illustrates a further use of my invention.

My improved hanger which may consist of a single strip of card board, tin, celluloid, or other suitable material, preferably consists of a numberl of such strips all of like construction and adapted for having their ends to interlockably engage so as to provide a continuous strip of the desired length. f

lf ach strip 1, at predetermined intervals, is stamped or otherwisesuitably cut with semi circular notches 2 as shown in Fig. 3 or with square or Vshaped notches 10-11 as shown in Fig. 10 the said notches being so formed that clip or tongue like members 20-20 are provided, between which the opposite edges of the card or picture are slipped into position and by which the picture is held clamped upon the strip as is clearly shown in the drawings.

The slits or notches are arranged in pairs, each pair being separated by so much of the body of the strip as is necessary to maintain the desired rigidity of the body and by reason thereof to provide for showing much more picture surface and less surface of the holder, and for especially adapting the space between each pair of oppositely projected clips or tongues for displaying a trade mark or other character for distinguishing the goods with which my hanger may be shipped, particularly when it is to be utilized as an advertising media for the said goods.

When the hanger is intended for displaying pictures and the like in vertical position as in Fig. 2, the hanger has an eyelet 5 for suspending it from a stud pin 50, it being understood that when it is to be used in the horizontal position the opposite ends of the hangers are tacked up Y as shown in Fig. l.

Among other advantages in my construction of picture holder or hanger.l is that the hanger presents a neat, pleasing surface easily applied for.' use and which forms a neat -and efficient advertising medium.

My invention may also bereadily adapted for use as a sign display, see Fig. 11.

2. As a new article, a picture card holder consisting of a plurality of strips of resilient material, each having notched ends that form tongues adapted to be bent out to produce clamps for engaging the edges of picture cards, one of the adjacent ends of a pair of stripshaving a single cut whereby to produce a single clamping tongue, the adjacent end of the other strip having a pair of cuts whereby to produce a pair of oppositely projected clamping tongues one of the said pair of tongues being adapted to interlock with the single tongue on the adjacent end of the other strip, the other one of the said pair of tongues being bendable through the cutV from which the aforesaid single tongue is bent, said pair of tongues forming a pair of oppositely disposed clamping members for engaging the adjacent edges of a pair of picture cards.
