A. ALBEE, OF WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS.
Letters Patent No. 96,071, dated October 26,1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN HEAT-RADIATORS.
The Schedule referred to in these Iiettere Patent and making part of the same a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to stove-radiators, for retaining and utilizing the heat of a stove, and in combining therewith an adjustable shelf, thereby rendering the radiator shelf convenient for warming dishes and other purposes. I
In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 represents a side view of the radiator, showing the shelf folded up.
Figure 2 is a sectional edge view, showing the shelf extended, as when in use.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A is the radiator.
The radiator .is formed of two flat sections or chambers, A and B, conical on their outer edges, connected together by four, more or less, radiating-pipes, O.
D is a thimble on the chamber B, which fits on to the collar of the stove.
On the chamber A there is a thimble, E, over. which the stove-pipe fits for conductin g off the smoke.
F represents a shelf, which is hinged to the lower edge of the chamber A, as seen. at g.
This shelf is supported in a' horizontal position by a lip, h, projecting from its inner. edge, which bears against the under side orbottom of the chamber A,
and supports the shelf, as seen in fig.- 2.
I do not confine myself to this particular method of supporting the shelf in this position. Other means may be employed for this purpose, if desired.
When not required for use, the shelf is turned up against the chamber A, as seen in fig. 1, in which position it is held by the clasp i.
I do not broadly claim a heat-radiator constructed in the manner described; but
What I do claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the radiator A and the adjustable shelf F, arranged substantially as described, for the purposes set forth.
