To all whom it may concern.:

Beit known that I, SAMUEL J. ANDERSON, of Cazenovia, Madison county, New York, have invented n. new and useful Improven'ient in Stove-Pipe Shelves; und I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the nrt to make und use the sumo, reference being' hud to the uccompzniyini:r drawings, t'onning part of this specification, in, which- Figure 1 lis a top view of my improved device cxtended.

My invention hns for its object to finnish n simple, convenient, adjustable, and detachable device for attachment to stove-pipes, for the reception of dishes or other things that muy be desired to be kept win-n1; and

lt consists in the construct-ion and combination of the vsn-ions ports of the device. as hereinafter more fully described.

A represents a portion of an ordinary suive-pipe.

B is a i'raune or support, made somewhat in the shape oi' a horse-shoe, as shown in tig. 1.

C is a. yoke, the forward or inner edge ot' which is comv caved, es shown in fig. 1, and upon the cnds of which are formed tenons or tongues, which enter grooves in the inner sides ot' the zl-rnis ofthe frame B, as shown in fig. 4.

D is n bar, placed in the rear, or nt the outer edge of the v volte C, und which hns tongues or tenons formed upon its ends, which enter the grooves in tho frame B. Both the inner and outer lends ot' the grooves in the :mns of the frame B nrc cios-cd, the tenons oi'thc said bars C and D being let into thcir places through a notch in the seid arms of the seid frzunc B.

E is a set-screw, which passes through the baul D, and the end of which presses against the rea-r edge of the bar C, so as to clump the stove-pipe A between the bur C and the irnme B.

The frame B muy be adopted to smaller pipes by varying the forni of the yoke C, so that its :mns muy extend across the pipe A, along the inner sides of the arms of the frame B.

F is :L frame, or shelf, which rests upon the frame or support B, and the :u'insf of which are bevclled upon one side, to enter grooves in the sides of the fiunges b, formed upon the upper side ofthe arms ofthe frame B.

Upon the under side ot' thc :i1-msj" of the frzune F are formed stops f", in such positions that when the sheltl F is drown out, the snid stops muy strike-against the pivots b2, formed upon t-ho edge of' the frame or support B, und stop the shelf before t-he urnis f have been wholly withdrawn from the flanges b'.

Upon the under side of thc :ums f', just in front' ot' the stops f3, are formed hooksf, which, when the stopsf" have been lif'tcd over the pivots b, catch upon thc said pivots, :nid enable t-hc suid shclf to be tprned down into the posit-lon shown in fig. 3 when not. required for use.

(i is n shelf, placed upon the opposite side of t-he pipe A from the shelf' F, which rests upon the frame or support B, und the ends of which nre slotted, toreccive thc flanges b' oi' the support B, and the armsf of t-he shelf F.

Upon the under sido of thc arms of the shelf G are formed inwnrdly-projecting iiunges y, which pass under outwnlilly-priectiug fianges 113, formed upon the outer sides of the :u'ms ot' the support B.

Upon the under side of the urms ofthe shelf G are formed hooks g2, which hook upon the pivots b ofthe support B, enabling the shelf G, when not required for use, to be turned down into the position shown in lig. 3.

This construction cnnbles one or both the shelves to be turned down or detached, when desired. It also enables the wholo device to bo raised or lowered upon or removed from the stove-pipe, when desired.
