Description

H. DOOLITTLE.
.StOVe-Pipe Shelf.
No. 197,347. Patented Nov. 20,1877.
N-PETERS, PHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON. D C.
UNITED STATES HARRISON .Do-oLIT L OF PLAIN CITY, OHIO.
' IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE SHELVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 197,347, dated November 20, 1877; application filed September 20, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
'- Be it known that I, HARRISON DooLITTLE, of Plain City, in Madison county, State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shelves for Stove-Pipes; and Ihereby declare that the following is a true and exact description of my invention, which will enable others to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings,
stove-pipe, in order to get more readily at what is placed on the shelf, instead of going round the same for this purpose.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved stove-pipe shelf. Fig. 2
is a sectional view through line .10 w of Fig. 1. A represents a stove-pipe. B and B are the two sections of castings of which the shelf is made. 11 b are lugs on the two sections B and B, and c c are holes or slots in these lugs.
D D are rings or bands, which serve to unite the two sections B and B when they are placed so as to embrace the stove-pipeA, and they are held in this position by aid of the rings 1) D, which are placed over the lugs b b. E E are wedges or clamps fitting into the holes or slots 0 0. These wedges serve to hold the rings D D over the lugs b b. f f are lugs or projections around the periphery of the sections B B, and these serve to support the ring F, which holds the handle G, the inner end of which is held to the sections B B by aid of the fastening h. The handle may thus be shifted at will, and fastened to either of the sections B B. The sections B .B consist of the rings m, n, and 0, which are held together by the radiating arms I and k. By this construction of the shelf the heat will readily pass up from the stove through the shelf, and assist in warming the dishes, pans, 850., placed on the top of the same.
Having thus described my invention, Idesire to claim- The combination of the sections B B, with the lugs 12 12, slots or holes 0 c, the rings D,
' the clamps or wedges E, the projections f, with ring F, fastening h, and the handle Gr, all substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
HARRISON DOOLITTLE.
