Airsomor: coArEsvlLLE, PENNSYLVAIA, AssIeNoRTo HIM- rsatis AND HIRAM WATSON, or sAMEjPLAcE. l
Letters Patent No."10(`)-,571,` dated March 8, 1870; aittedated March 1, 1870.
` mrnovfen sTovE-smr Np Damn.
I, JogN J. WTSQN, of Goatesville, inChester county, land State of Pennsylvania, have invented certainlmprovementsina Stove-Shelf and Drier combined,` of which the following is a specification.
The nat-ure of my invention consists in the arrangement of a shell` and drier, so as torevolve independ Iently of each other on a vertical shaft, and in themanner of bracing the shelf 'and clamping the combined shelf and drier to stoves, clearly shown by the accompanying drawings,'in whichy j l .Figure 1 is a perspectiveview of'all the parts combined. Y A
respectively in profile and detached,
A, the vertical column, shouldered at top .a for the shelf B, 4with its brace O held centrally /by a bolt through the shelf, the rounded foot partially-encircling the vertical shalt A, resting and moving upon the drying-rod support D, which latter also `rest-s on' a collar or shoulder, d, on the shaft.
f Ornamental side-braces e are shown connectedwiththe, shaft and foot-piece F.
A Kfshows a deep roundlid or cover that fit-s within the raised edge of the circular shelf, and is used to prevent too rapid evaporation `of food placed .on the Ishelf'.`
The top of this lid may be leftplain and the handle 'lheysame lettersreier to the same portions shown placed on t-lleside, and may be used as ashelf also.
This combined shelf is easily attached to the projecting dange of any stm'e ordinarily in use, and, by making the clamp-screw long enough,'and placing the slotted brace Hand burs under the footfpiece F, it may be used from the bottom to the top, being, howkeverbetter adapted to the cook-stoves now in use.
The foot Fis set at any point desired, and the'counterpart G, with its claw-end, placed beneath'the flange on the stove I, andthe slotted brace H adjusted against the bodyof the stove. Then, by turning the bindingI or lthumb-screw g, the foot and column will be rinly clamped to the stove, the rod-holder D is slipped on, and the shelf B, with its brace C, also put in place.
The shelf and drierrevolve freely on the column, independently of each other, and can be placed in any position relatively to one another or with the top. of the stove.` y I am aware-that stove and stove-pipe shelves are not new, but I am not aware that any arranged sub# st'antally as herein-described were ever used.
What. I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The arrangementA of the anged shelf B with its brace G, revolving jointly around the vertical support A, in combination with a revolving holder, D, for rods E, said supportA .being provided with a foot-piece,l
F, clamp-piece G, and a slotted adjusting-brace, H, for attaching the same to a stove, in the manner and for the purpose specified.
Witnesses: JOHN J. WATSON.
