Letters Patent No. 95,530, dated October 5,1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN GRADE-ES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUGUSTUS SPIEGEL, of Indianapolis, county of -Marion, and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements ,in .Oradles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full and exact description of the improvements, reference being had to the drawings that accompany and form part of these specifications.
The object of my invention is to provide a cheap and din'able fastening to hold the cradle A, when rocked back and forth, from being thrown off of the base B, as shown in Figure 1.
Figure 2 represents the front and side of the pin 0 with a slot or hook on both, as shown by letters D and F.
Figure 3 represents a side view of the pin 0 in its proper position in the rocker A and base B, as shown by letters E and H; also, the stop G, with the hook F, holding the pin 0 in the sockets E.-
Fignre 4 represents the pin 0 as it is fastened in the rocker A, and drawn partly out of the socket E, by the tipping of the cradle or rocker A, showing the manner in which it works.
To enable others to make and use my invention, I will proceed tov describe it.
The pin 0, as shown in fig. 2, is made of iron, or any,snitable metal, with a'tenon on the upper end, to
enter into a mortise in the rocker A, with a hole, to
receive the pin on screw H.
The pin or hook is made tapering from the tenou to the end, to allow it to work in the socket E, when the cradle is rocked, as shown in fig. 4, with the slot so formed as to make a'hook at the bottom, as shown by letter F;
The thin piece of metal G, driven into the socket E and slot D, as shown in fig. 3, is to stop the pin 0 from coming out of the socket E, by means of the hook F, when the cradle is'rocked.
That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent ot' the United States, is
The hook C and metal stop'G, in combination with the rocking part and base of the cradle, substantially as and for the purpose herein set forth.
\Vitnesses: ,AUGUSTUS SPIEGEL.
