Figure 2, an elevation of theraek attached to the angle of a seat. i
The nature of my inventionv consists in the use of a forked-rack, arranged to support a hat by the rim, 'and also to be swung to the front of a seat for putting the' hat in place, and then under it for carrying the hat out of the Way., l

In order to given correetunderstanding ofmy invention, I have marked corresponding parts with similar letters, 'and will now givea detailed. description, i
VA represents the under side of a seat, and B B the standards to which nJy rack is attached. C D E represent thedevice for supporting' the forkF F G, and is made with lugs C E; the-former being provided with n. step at its top for supporting' the loiver end of a pivot, H, and the latter,` with a hele for supporting the upper end ofthe-same'. The'plateD is provided with screw-holes, that4 it ina-y he fastened to the end or standard of a seaigfas shown at Hg.' 2. ,The lug E is also provided with screw-holes, that it may be fastened 'to the bottom of `a. seat, as seen at iig. 1; the two methods of securing the'deyiee in place being necessary to adapt it to the purpose designed. I t v The rack proper consists of a cast-iron fork, F F, nfith a shank, G, rigidly attached to a vertical pivot, H, arranged to iit under the rim-of ahnt, and support it, as-seen at iig. 1, and is also arranged to swing to or from the front of the seat for putting the hat inplace, and then carrying it under the seat and out ofthe way.
The fork F F, shank G, 'and pivot H can be cast solid, and so 'as' to need no fitting, and can be put'into the lugs C E by first putting the top of the pivot through the iugAE, thennder side ofthe seat preventing the pivot from getting out of place when said l'ug is properly secured.
The arrangement es setforth'is very simple, Aand can he made at small cost, and attached for use hy any" person having a knowledge of the use of a common screwdriver.
Having thus described my device, what I olaim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the forked rack F G, vertical pivot` II, and support C DEQsuhstantially as and foi` Y thc purpose set Forth.
