IMPROVED REVOLVING TABLE.'

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 59,341, dated November 6, 1866.

To all whom it may concern.'

Be it known that I, PARDoN BARRETT, of Jackson, in the count-y of Susquehanna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Table 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a side sectional view of my invention, and Fig. 2 a plan or top view of the same with the cap-piece over the screw.

The subject of this invention is a table in which the top is provided with a series of drawers and mounted adjustably upon a central screw which works in a metallic nut embedded in the center of the top, and the screw projecting above the top is provided with a cap or guard, which may also serve as a rest or support for a light. v

A represents a stand or support, constructed in such a manner as to be ornamental and serve to secure iirmly the upper part, B, of the table. In the upper end of this stand or support A there is fitted a vertical screw,.G, as shown clearly in Fig. l.

The upper part of the table may be of polyg# onal or other suitable form, and provided with drawers E. At the center of B there is a block, F, in which a nut, Gr, is fitted, through which and the block the screw Gpasses, as shown clearly in Fig. 1.

From this description it will be seen that by turning the upper part, B, of the table the said part may be raised and lowered as may be desired.

The screw C extends some distance above the part B of the table, and is covered by a cap, H, which may` serve as a stand for alight when one is necessary.

The device may be constructed so as to have a very ornamental and neat appearance, and still be manufactured at a small cost.

I am aware that it is not new to mount a table-top adjustably upon a screw, but I know of no previous example of a table in which the parts are constructed and arranged as herein described.

I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent-V A table composed of a stand or support, A, having a screw, C, fitted in its upper end, and an upper part, B, provided with drawers, and a nut, G, placed centrally within it for the screw C to pass through, and a cap, H, to -t over the screw, substantially as and for thel purpose set forth. l
