To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALBERT V. OONRADT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kolromo, in the county of Howard and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports for VVashstands, of which the following is a specification.

The support of the present invention is intended to afford a single leg or support for two adjacent wash bowls, where the same are arranged in series of two or more, as is frequently the practice in the lavatory arrangement of schools, hotels, public buildings, and the like.

The invention relates more particularly to that class of wash bowls which are constructed either from glazed porcelain or from vitrified metal; and the object of the invention is to so construct the leg or post that it will possess elements of strength and rigidity and at the same time simplify the construction and eliminate, to a very considerable extent, the provision of individual legs for each of the wash bowls of the series, thereby affording a greater amount of unobstructed space beneath the wash bowls, which is highly desirable. At the same time the construction is one which presents a very attractive appearance and improves the sanitary character of the lavatory arrangeinent.

Further objects will appear from a detailed description of the invention, which consists in the features of construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

In the drawings, the figure shows a front view, slightly in perspective, of a series of three bowls, showing portions of one of the legs in section.

In the present embodiment of the invention, three bowls 1 are shown, although a plurality of bowls, other than three, might obviously be employed, depending entirely upon the lavatory arrangements intended. Each of the bowls is provided, on its under side, near its front edge, at each end, with depending dowel pin or stud 2.

The intermediate dowel pins of adjacent bowls are entered into the open upper ends 3 of a, bifurcated leg 4, which is of substantially V shape, the upper portion being substantially in the form of an inverted arch, in order to secure the necessary strength to enable a single leg, branched as described, to support the corners of two adjacent bowls. The legs are preferably composed of the same material of which the bowls are composed, and the terminal dowel pins find a socket in the open upper end pins of straight end legs 5 of ordinary column formation.

The arrangement is one which simplifies the fitting of the lavatory fixtures to a considerable extent, and at the same time the branched or bifurcated intermediate legs serve to connect or unite the bowls composing the series into a unitary structure and to prevent any side slipping or sagging of the bowls which might take place if each of the bowls were separately supported and disconnected from the others.

\Vhat I regard as new and. desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In combination with a plurality of Wash bowls or the like, an intermediate leg branched at its upper end to have an inverted arch formation, the branches serving to support the ends of the adjacent wash bowls, each of the ends being hollow, and dowel pins depending from the wash bowls and sockcted in the ends of the branches, substantially as described.

2. In combination with a plurality of porcelain wash bowls or the like, each provided with :1. depending dowel pin or stud, an intermediate leg of porcelain and formed to have a straight lower portion and a branched upper portion of inverted arch formation, the branches being hollow at their ends to receive the dowel pins, substantially as described.
