UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANCIS A. STROUGH, ()1? PHILADELPHIA, NEYV YORK.
DESIGN FOR A BADGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,230, dated December 8, 1891.
Application filed December 13, 1890. Serial No, 374,651- Term of patent 14 years,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS A. STROUGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Jeifersou and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Badge, Button, or Pin, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, forming a part thereof.
The photograph illustrates a face View of my design, and is deemed sufficient to fully illustrate the same.
The leading feature of the design consists of a background having a circular outline and configured surface, a panel on said background form ed by intersecting lines, a second panel upon said surface, and a bar or band at the lower part of the background having a rounding outer face.
A represents the background of my design, which is formed with a circular outline a and a configured surface a for representing a portion of the continents of the globe.
13 represents a panel formed by intersect ing lines 12 b for representing a cross.
0 represents a panel upon the raised panel B at the point of intersection of the cross or panel ll, being formed of parallel sides 0, and the sides 0 having their opposite extremities inclining one from the other for representing a Bible open at John III, xvi.
I) represents a bar or band upon the background A, having a rounding outer surface, which is formed with a series of elevations and depressions for representing a pair of clasped hands. This particulararrangement of background and panels forms a very desirable, pleasing, and attractive arrangement, which renders the badge, button, or pin very desirable, ornamental, and salable.
Having thus fullydescribed my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a badge, pin, orbutton, sub stautially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name, in the presence of two attesting witmesses, at Philadelphia, in the county of Jet'- fersou, in the State of New York, this 9th day of December, 1890.
