"lhe teeth otl these elothings, at present in use, are beiit in the shape ot' a U, Fig. 1, ot' the annexed drawing, so that the teeth o are connected in pairs by means of a connecting bridge b. At work both teeth are moved considerably in the operation of carding, whereby they aet in the holes, in which they are secured under a certain leverage and thus widen said holes in such a way that nally the teeth get loose.
The clothing forming the subject of the invention is characterized by the fact, that the teeth are quite independent of each other. Each tooth, Fig. 2, is bent U shaped accompanying drawat the end and a limb penetrates 1nto the cloth parallel tothe limb o -o't' the tooth. This structure renders the fastening ot' the teeth in the tonlidation'more secnre than in the case where the teeth are arranged in pairs as in Fig. 1, since in the operation of carding, the etlortl exerted npon the t'astening portion ot' the teeth arranged in pairs is doable that exerted npon the fastening portion ot' a single independent tooth. To still increase the hold, bntespecially to prevent the tendency ot' the teeth to penetrate `the foundation beneath the clothing. the limbs b, Fig. 2, are bent at right angles at (I over the surface of the cloth in such a way, that he teeth stand fast and at the same time that the coatings or layers ot' the cloth are held together. The hold in the cloth thus effected for each tooth, is largely increased, becanse thel teeth, evennnder the greatest strain in the cai-ding operation, are able t0 `vield in all directions.
lVhat I claim'as my invention and desire to protect by Letters Patentis:
A card clothing comprising teeth eachstanding independently from the others, being bent in U shape at the end to be secured, having` a limb (b) standing in the cloth parallel to the main limbo and a bend lying on the surface of the, cloth and at right;
