JOHN THOMAS FALLOYVS, OF DENTON, COUNTY OF LANCASTER, ENGLAND.
CARD- -CLOTHING FOR QARDlNG-ENGINES.
61*; forming part of Letters Patent No. 339,394. dated April 6, 1826.
A pplicalion filed September '38. 1885. ScnalNo. 173,3!79. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that hJonn THOMAS FALLOW'S, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Denton. in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented a new and useful Improvement in or relating to Card-Clothing for Llarding-lungines, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to those carding-engines in Which, instead of the ordinary carding-cylinders, an endless hand of carding-cloth is employed, the said band revolving around two or more cyl nders or rollers.
The object of my invention is toprevent the teeth on such endless carding-band from being forced out of position or partly driven back through the foundation of the band, so that the points of the teeth do not come in contact with the fiber to be carded. I obtain this object by means of an additional or so pplementary belt placed and working between the endless carding-band and the cylinders or rollers. This supplementary band may be formed partly or wholly of metal or any of its substantial known equivalents; and it maybe detached from the cardingband or cemented, pinned. or otherwise affixed or secured to the back of the same.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which the sarneletters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Figure l is a cross-sectional view of my improved carding cloth for carding-engines. Fig. 2 is a side or edge view of the same, including the supplementary beltin part and the pulley over which it is passed.
A is the usual carding-cloth; B, the carding hooks, prongs, or pins on the same; 0, the pulley over which the carding-cloth is passed; D, the supplementary belt above mentioned.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with a carding-band on which carding-teeth are held, of an additional or supplementary belt, made of metal, substantially as herein shown and described.
The foregoing specification of my improvements in or relating to card clothing for carding engines signed by me this 4th day of September, 1885.
JOHN THOMAS FALLOWS.
