To all whom v'z may @o nce/m:
Be it known that I, ROBERT V. JoNEs, ot' the borough of Birmingham, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Machine for Opening and Closing and Fastening `Win dow-Shutters by Means of a Roller and Chain; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of' the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specifica tion, in which- Figure l is a view of the hinge when shut and Fig. 2 is a view of the same when opened.
To enable others skilledin the art to make and use myinvention I will proceed more fully to describe its construction and operation.
It is intended to be applied to the ordinary windows and shutters of dwellings, Sac. now commonly used. I use a cap, letter a,

What I claim as my invention and desire to be secured by Letters Patent is- The tubular shanked box hinge, with roller contained therein as arranged with respect to the roller within the building when the rollers are connected by a chain and the whole is constructed as herein described, constituting a convenient blind, or shutter operator.
