UNITED STATES PATENT orrreir.
EMILY Gr. SKINNER, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
HOLDER FOR WING-POINT COLLARS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMILY G. SKINNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Wing-Point Collars, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a holder for wingpoint collars, and it has for its object the provision of means for holding the collar in proper shape with the wing-points exposed so that they can be sponged-ofi' when found necessary, to remove lint, finger-marks, or when otherwise soiled.
Another object is to provide an inexpensive, simple and efiective device for this purpose in which adjustable members lie on opposite sides of a fixed member and are separated from the latter by intervening-spaces in which the collar is placed; said adjustable members having supporting-wings at their upper ends onto which the wing-points of the collars are laid and upstanding stops at the rear ends of the wings against which the edges of the wing-points are adapted to bear.
With these and other objects in View, the invention consists in the construction, arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the subj oined claims.
In the drawings,-Figure l is a perspective view of my improved collar-holder attached to a support and showing a collar placed therein with the wing-points lying on the supporting-wings of the adjustable members. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the holder with the ends of a collar shown in connection therewith. Fig. 8 is a side-view of the same showing the manner of holding a collar therein. Figs. 4 and 5 are rear and front views, respectively, of the holder. Fig. 6 is a central vertical section taken on line 66, Fig. 5. Fig. 7 is a vertical transverse section taken on line 77, Fig. 3.
Referring now to the drawings in detail, like letters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
The reference letter A represents a table or other support onto which my improved holder B is secured; the holder being preferably secured to the edge of the table or support so that a collar placed therein will not come in contact with the table, and n0 obstruction is therefore offered to the proper positioning of the collar.

C represents a base-plate adapted to be fastened to the table or support by means of screws 0, or other fastening means; it having a fixed member D formed integrally therewith which rises therefrom at a point about midlength. Said fixed member comprises a standard D having at its upper end an inclined flat portion or table (Z which is preferably round at its front end, as at (P, and tapered to its rear end, as clearly shown in Fig. 2. For the purpose of reducing the weight of the device, the standard is provided with an opening E. Arranged at opposite sides of the fixed member with their inner faces parallel with the converging edges of the flat portion or table of said member, are two adjustable members F sepa rated from said edges by intervening spaces Gr. Said adjustable members comprise standards H having slotted flanges I at their lower ends through which fastening-screws i are passed that take into threaded openings 2' in the base-plate C, and at their upper ends said standards are provided with lat erally extending wings J which are inclined rearwardly, as best shown in Fig. 3, and the surfaces of which are elevated slightly above the flat upper face of the fixed member. The said wings are curved at their rear ends and tapered to their front ends, and at the rear ends of said wings, upstanding stops K are provided. The spaces between the edges of the table (Z and the inner faces of the adjustable members H may be enlarged or diminished by loosening the screws 2' and moving the adjustable members toward or from the fixed member.
When placing the collar in position to be sponged-off, the ends thereof are passed into the spaces between the edges of the table (Z and the inner faces of the adjustable mem bers with the wing-points lying on the wings of said adjustable members and the edges of said wing-points bearing against the stops K. The only portions of the collar therefore exposed are the wing-points, which latter are held in proper shape and can be quickly and conveniently spongedotf to remove lint or other matter adhering to the points.
Having thus described my invent-ion, what I claim is,
1. A device of the character described comprising a rigid member, and adjustable members lying on opposite sides of said rigid member and separated from the latter by intervening spaces, said adjustable members having lateral wings onto which the wing-points of a collar are adapted to be placed.
2. In a device of the character described, the combination of a fixed member, and adjustable members on opposite sides of said fixed member and separated from the latter by intervening-spaces, said adjustable members having lateral wings onto which the wing-points of a collar are adapted to rest and upstanding stops against which the edges of the wing-points are adapted to bear.
3. In a device of the character described, the combination of a fixed member having a flat inclined upper surface, and adjustable members lying on opposite sides of said fixed member and separated therefrom by intervening spaces, said adjustable members having laterally extending wings inclined similar to the upper surface of the fixed member and stops at the rear ends of said wings.
4. In a device of the character described, the combination of a fixed member having an inclined upper surface, and adjustable members on opposite sides of said fixedv member and separated therefrom by intervening spaces, said adjustable members having upper inclined surfaces and stops at the lowermost points of said inclined surfaces.
