SEAL-LOCK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 14, 1909.
Application filed January 27, 1908. Serial No. 412,811.
To all whom it may c0ncern.
Be 1t known that I, HEINnrorr STAMM, a citizen of the Swiss Republlc, reslding at Richterswil, Canton Zurich, Switzerland,
have invented certaln new and useful Improvements in Seal-Locks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a lead seal lock consisting of a hinged plate and a locking part connected therewith, both parts being arranged on a fixed hinge plate which is secured on one of the parts to be locked to gether. The locking plate is connected to a closing part and secured by means of the locking part for the purpose of lead sealing in such a manner that none of the parts can afterward be moved. The whole arrange ment has for its object to protect the case or box from unauthorized opening and to en able it to be quickly and securely fastened up for transports without the use of nails.
In order that my invention may be more readily understood, reference is had to the accompanying sheet of drawings; in which Figure 1 is a front view and Fig. 2 a side view of one construction; and Fig. 3 is a section through the line A-A of Fig. 1.
The fixed hinge plate a is secured on the lid 7) of a case 0. At one end of this plate is hinged a plate (Z on the front of which the locking part c is hinged, so that it can be folded over and locked on the plate (I. The lower end of the plate (Z is bent outward at right angles and the end of c is bent in the form of a loop to embrace the end of (Z. These ends are provided with holes f to receive the binding wire used with the lead seal g. On the front of the case is fastened a plate 6 on which is a pin it serving as a locking piece. At the back part of the pin two notches H are cut so that the front part of the pin is formed into a head. The plate (Z has a longitudinal key slot 70 to receive the pin h the head of which can pass through the lower end of the slot. The locking plate 0 is provided with a hole which receives the head of the pin it.
The operation is as follows: WVith the cover Z) of the case not quite closed the plate (Z is passed over the'head of the pin it which enters the enlargement of the keyhole slot; the cover is then closed and the pin it enters the upper end of the slot 70. The locking part 6 is then closed on the plate 03, the head of the pin it projecting through the part c as shown, and the holes f registering with each other. The lead sealing can then take place. The sealed fastening thus made cannot be opened until the seal 5/ is removed, as none of the parts are movable.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a seal lock the combination of a hinged plate having a keyhole slot, a second perforated plate hinged on the first, a securing stud engaging in the keyhole slot and in the hole of the second plate successively, and flanges on the two plates and a seal fastening the two flanges together, substantially as herein described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto setmy hand in the presence of two witnesses.
